URP-SP (Urban and Regional Planning – Study Program) is aware that success does not depend solely on the academic achievement but also the ability to use soft skills, such as management, leadership, and communication. Aside from implicitly including soft skills in the exercises given during the learning process, URP-SP also supports the development of student soft skills through student organisation called Pramukya Arcapada. Founded in 26 April 2009, Pramukya Arcapada has a mission to:
- Gather all planning students in URP-SP to build their capacity as planners and individuals as part of national development;
- Be a planning student that possesses professionalism, integrity, critical thinking, and conscience;
- Be a planning student imbued with “wawasan nusantara” as the basic principle of knowledge development;
- Be a planning student who is aware of global issues in planning field with orientation towards national competitiveness.
The organizational structure of Pramukya Arcapada consists of the President, General Secretary, Secretary, Treasury, Vice-treasury, and Heads of Divisions. There are 8 divisions within Pramukya Arcapada, namely public relation division, domestic division; education, research, and professional division; human resources division; entrepreneurship division; community service division; art and creativity division; and sport division. In practice, Pramukya Arcapada organizes most of the activities involving students in URP-SP, such as seminars, discussions, sport festivals, and student orientation activities.
Aside from Pramukya Arcapada, the students are also free to join other student bodies and student clubs in the department, faculty, and university level. There are several student bodies and student clubs, such as student executive board of UGM, student executive board of Faculty of Engineering, Scout, Sport Clubs, Art Clubs, Photography Club, Movie Club, and Bussiness Club.
