The vision of the BURP degree program is to strive to be a recognized degree program in the field of urban and regional planning in Asia, with the emphasis on spatial engineering imbued with community values, social justice, and empowerment to foster sustainable humanity.
As such, the mission of the BURP degree program, derived from the degree program’s vision are as follows:
- To conduct high quality teaching and education in order to produce professional urban and regional planner who possesses moral integrity;
- To develop scientific knowledge for bridging the gap between planning theory and planning practice in the real world; and
- To actively contribute in shaping better civilization through urban and regional planning education.
The PEOs and PLOs of BURP are developed considering feedback from stakeholders. The Task Force Team for BURP Curriculum Development followed it up by conducted a series of group discussions together with the stakeholders to obtain suggestions of recent relevant PEOs dan PLOS of the degree program. The output of a series of meetings was integrated into the 2016 curriculum system that is currently applied until 2021.
As such, the bachelor program in Urban and Regional Planning strives to produce graduates with the following criteria :
- capable to work as planners (at the national, regional and local level), researchers and policy analysts, utilizing urban and regional planning scientific methods and approaches (PEO1),
- problem-solving oriented (PEO2),
- sensitive towards social and humanity values (PEO3), and
- lifelong learners (PEO 4).
Table 1 illustrates the description of each of the BURP program learning outcomes (PLO) and its keywords that are used to relate each PLO with ASIIN Subject Specific Criteria (SSC). It provides a stepping-stone to evaluate the BURP program according to ASIIN framework.
