Study in Yogyakarta

The University is located in The Special Region of Yogyakarta, one of the smallest provinces in the country, which has been widely known as a center of Javanese culture as well as a center of learning.  It has 3,200,000 inhabitants, 511,000 of whom reside in the city of Yogyakarta. As a special province, Yogyakarta has been one of the alternative for students to study culture as well as their major study.

Dormitory

Students are offered with various choices of local dormitory where they can mingle with local students and also local residents of Yogyakarta with the range of price between $27-100 per month depends on the location, facilities and size of room. These local dormitories are also surrounded by many kinds of  warung, local small restaurant for students with cheap prices.

Transportation

Trans Jogja is one of the alternative mass transportation within Yogyakarta area. The buses are equipped with AC and operating every day from 5:30 am – 9:30 pm. It go through 6 routes, which some are not passed by typical city buses. The passangers has to buy a single trip ticket which costs IDR 3.6K. This ticket can be used to any destination, no matter how long the trip may be. If the passenger step off of one Trans Jogja bus and catch another bus, it would have to buy another ticket. However, the same does not apply if the passenger change the bus stop station. As the student is going to stay longer in Yogya, it will be better to buy a card which has refill system with varying values-IDR 15K, IDR 25K, IDR 50K, and IDR 100K. Trans Jogja as a city-transportation which is comfortable, cheap, and safe is the best option to go around Yogyakarta.

Bookshop and Stationery

affandi 5The student can buy various books in book shop like “Gramedia” and “Toga Mas” or book market called “Shopping”. The book shop provide wide range of book genre from college book, dictionary, reference, magazine, novel, fiction, and comic. The shop also sell stationery like writing equipment and bag. If the student want to buy specific stationery, “Toko Merah” who has more complete item could be the best option.

Public Library

Student who want more reference can go to Yogyakarta Public Library. Located in Jalan Suroto 9 Kotabaru, Yogyakarta, the library is equipped with AC and wifi service. The wifi can be access by free after go to the front office. Student can also sign up for membership if interested to borrow book. Yogyakarta Public Libabry is a nice and comfortable place to enrich the knowlagde.

 

Recreation

yogyakarta-highThe student can enjoy various kind of recreational experience in Yogyakarta. A lot of interesting location can be selected as a refreshing places to take a break from daily activity. Yogyakarta City provided many attractive destination such as Kraton (Sultan Palace), Taman Sari, Malioboro, Kotagede, museums, and Gembira Loka zoo. Merapi mountain and Kaliurang area is a best spot in Sleman to taste healthy air and beautiful nature. Diverse beaches, caves, and another delightul nature places in Bantul, Gunung Kidul, and Kulon Progo can also be an alternative recreational option.
